The DeForest Area Girls Youth Basketball Association (DAGYBA) was established in 2007 in efforts to promote the importance and value of sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication; all while having fun learning the game of basketball. DAGYBA is a non-profit organization that sponsors the 3rd grade through 8th grade girls’ basketball program in the DeForest Area School District. New players are always welcome!
The following Board positions are open for nominations. Interested individuals should submit their name to Heidi Hoffman by April 10th along with the role they are interested in for the term that runs from May 2020 - April 2022
Tournament & Event Coordinator (Dennis Parmenter is the current incumbent, and will not be seeking re-election)
The Tournament and Event Coordinator will oversee all tournaments and events hosted by DAGYBA; which includes advance planning, day-of-event coverage and post-event needs. Tournament and event duties include recruiting tournament teams, collecting tournament fees and forwarding to Secretary/Treasurer for deposit, hiring tournament officials, organizing parent volunteer sign-ups, contacting vendors, purchasing supplies and directing all set up and clean up.
School Liaison/Scheduler (Jen Brandl is the current incumbent, and seeking re-election)
The School Liaison/Scheduler will serve as the main contact with the DeForest Area School District, schedule facilities for practice times, schedule facility for Board meetings, collaborate with DAYBBC scheduler, schedule facilities for tournaments and provide the Commissioner future budget requirements for financial needs associated with this position.
Equipment Coordinator (Maria Accuardi is the current incumbent, and seeking re-election)
The Equipment Coordinator will inventory current equipment levels (including medical kits, uniforms, basketballs, etc.), order new equipment as needed and as approved by board, facilitate equipment hand out and collection, maintain storage of equipment in off season, coordinate spirit wear sales and evaluate future equipment needs and report any budgetary needs to the Board.
Our March board meeting has been canceled. The next meeting is TBD.
Edge Fitness of Windsor is offering our basketball athletes a rate of $69/month for Sports Performance training. Offer includes up to 3 workouts per week (up to 12 workouts per month). Each workout will include group dynamic warm-up, jumping & landing mechanics, and speed & agility work in addition to individualized strength/power programming tailored to fit individual needs and goals.
