The DeForest Area Girls Youth Basketball Association (DAGYBA) was established in 2007 in efforts to promote the importance and value of sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication; all while having fun learning the game of basketball. DAGYBA is a non-profit organization that sponsors the 3rd grade through 8th grade girls’ basketball program in the DeForest Area School District. New players are always welcome!
Despite everyone's best efforts, we will not be able to hold a DAGYBA season this year. As you may recall from our last update, BDL discussed plans to begin their league season in January/February. We were informed recently that they will be unable to hold league games in our area this year. Additionally gym space at the schools remains unavailable, and we don't know when that will change. Considering both factors, the board determined it would not be possible to pull a season together at this point.
We will continue to forward playing opportunities we receive and post those here. Please also visit our Facebook page (DAGYBA on Facebook), and be sure to check out the DeForest Girls Basketball program on Facebook (DeForest Girls Basketball on Facebook).
We are looking forward to playing in 2021/2022. We'll send and post updates as they are available, but please stay tuned!
We wanted to give you a quick update to the DAGYBA season. As a board, we continue to consider all possibilities of play for this season, from full league play to skills/drill workshops to in community competition only.
A collection of drills and workouts that can be done from home have been added to our website.
The DAGYBA Board has one new elected member and two existing elected board members this year.
Ryan Volenberg will serve as the new Tournament and Event Coordinator, replacing Dennis Parmenter who completed his term. Jen Brandl was elected to another term to serve as the Scheduler/School Liaison. Maria Accuardi was elected to another term to serve as the Equipment Manager.
Please help congratulate our new DAGYBA Board member, Ryan Volenburg, and join us in thanking Dennis Parmenter for all he has done for DAGYBA!
The next DAGYBA Board meeting is TBD.
