The DeForest Area Girls Youth Basketball Association (DAGYBA) was established in 2007 in efforts to promote the importance and value of sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication; all while having fun learning the game of basketball. DAGYBA is a non-profit organization that sponsors the 3rd grade through 8th grade girls’ basketball program in the DeForest Area School District. New players are always welcome!
We are almost two weeks away from our home tournament on December 4-5, which means it's time for volunteer sign-up! Below is the link that will take you to the Sign-Up Genius page that shows the volunteer shift opportunities for the tournament. The game schedule has been released and posted, so you should know when your athlete plays. Please take some time as soon as you can to sign up for some shifts:
There are two locations for each day - Harvest Intermediate School and DeForest High School with multiple courts operating on both Saturday and Sunday. Please note which date/site you are signing up for.
Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this. As we reiterated in the kick-off meeting, we need the support of every DAGYBA family to make this tournament a success for our players and our club.
BDL has released tournament and game times for the season. Please note these definitely can change! Keeping up on changes is easiest if you download the app on your phone as any modifications they make are instantaneous.
A few items to keep in mind:
Teams in 3rd grade should see two games per date.
Teams in grades 4-8 should expect 3 games per date.
In order to play in your first game, all players MUST fill out a BDL Consent. You can find those here: BDL Consent.
Coaches/Team Managers - please double-check to make sure that BDL didn't mistakenly schedule your team in multiple communities on a date, or schedule them to play too few or too many games on a date, etc. Please notify me of these issues ASAP.
Please ensure all of your players have signed a consent online prior to playing.
Some divisions have a game versus a "Non-Conference" opponent. These will likely result in a forfeit win, as it is a no-contest and they will play only two games on those dates.
Please review: Rules of the Game
Congratulations to those athletes who completed the Summer Shooting Program challenge! We look forward to recognizing these girls at an upcoming DeForest Girls Basketball game.
A collection of drills and workouts that can be done from home have been added to our website.
The DeForest High School Girls' Basketball Coaching Staff and Players will again be offering their popular Little Norskies Girls Basketball program, for girls in 4K-4th grade. The Little Norskies Girls Basketball program is a 7-week instructional program. Locations and times are all located on page 2 of the flyer.
Registrations are due by December 1st, but walk-up registrations will be accepted.
The next DAGYBA Board meeting is TBD.
